Some winter travel tips
here are a list (a brutal list) of what i will modify on further
winter trips (this more a personal document):
- a water resistant daily food storage system (a lot a
humidity(=extra weight) was inside the food bags (one bag=one day))
- GPS waypoint should be mesured and entered before the trips, as
it's easier on a table with the right tools than in the tent with the
compas scale.
- a water resistant but transparent GPS bag
- a smaller notebook, as i don't need that much paper
- a better jacket: longer, with a fur system around the head, and
with a small top outside pocket to put the compas in (as i'm afraid
to loose it if it's only around my neck with a rope, and as putting it
inside the jacket at each time let the snow come in)
- a pen that *really* works on a plastified map
- 2 pairs of wool gloves (no small mittens) and a heavy-warm
pair of mittens.
- a cover on my cup (to be less dangerous inside the tent)
- real waterproof vapor barrier socks (trouble with the plastic bags)
- kicking fart for the skis
- a more easy to set up tent (a Kanuk should be easier to set up
than the North Face in really windy conditions)
- a chemical toilets (or anything else less heavy:)) not to have to go out
in the storm.
- more sugar (50gr per days vs 25gr)
- food rations with different calories (and eat them depending on
the day)
- more optimized food packing system (no aluminium sheet through
the almond pastry, should openable with big mittens)
